Lucky me, I get to be like Popeye, meaning, “I yam what I yam.” Outspoken, messy, creative, and heavily reliant on Grammarly and my working husband, I set aside any dim aspirations to be professional and profitable to write and live out my stay-at-home dreams. This website is a journal of my yamming, including but not limited to these categories: Writing my first novel, Tales from Ordinary Life , Published Work, and Advocacy that I’ve done on behalf of my kids. Included are my photography and image making. My portfolio of words and pictures. This website houses my digital creative work.

First Novel. Still writing it … 20 years later

I am currently taking a series of online novel writing classes through The Writer’s Workshop.

Jana Harris teaches the class. She assigned the text The Weekend Novelist by Robert J. Ray. These are posts based on the assignments.

Photography

In the early 2000s, I learned how to code websites and use Photoshop. I had the words but needed the images. I realized I needed to take pictures or restore old ones. What started as a means to an end quickly became a fascination with pairing words and pictures. When my son was born in 2005, I became hooked on taking pictures of him and his brother, whom we adopted in 2012, and our life together. The images on this website are either my photography or family snapshots I restored.

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”
